RocketBook - Handwriting to scan plus OCR made easy

I've got two diff RocketBooks , one is paper (the "microwave to erase") and the other is the Matrix ("wipe with moist cloth"). I love both of them. They make writing, capturing, and erasing super easy. The "Wave" is a paper notebook, and is less likely to smudge, works really well with color ink, and has a nice feel. It has durability problems, though, and the front and back covers are both tearing off. I actually glued them to the first and last writing pages to reinforce the binding, and that's working fine. The ink "shadow" tends to build up over time, and not fully erase, even with vigorous rubbing with the pen eraser or excessive microwaving. Also, it's paper - pressure lines accrue over time, also. Still, it's an awesome book. The "Matrix" is a lot more durable, since it's basically plastic. One weird thing I've noticed is that rubbing it with an eraser seems to damage the surface, and it's building up...

Drop me a link to your blog. I'm building a list.

Okay, let's do this over again, properly this time. Well, "more properly," anyway. I'll sort out the formatting eventually. So, the point is, drop a link to your blog in the comments section, and I'll update this OP as I get around to it.  "The hardest part for every artist is being found by her audience." - Icarus Anne Riley DURANDUS VON MEISSEN Malcolm's Observations RPG Knights Cross Planes

Mighty Protectors RPG tutorial vids on YouTube

You might have noticed I've been playing about with the Mighty Protectors  RPG , written by Jeff Dee and Jack Herman, and published under their Monkey House Games imprint. Well, there's this guy, BK Adams , who - rumor has it - may actually be a bigger guru about MP  even than Jeff Dee.  I don't know if this is true, but it's a fun rumor to spread (because, you know, gossip draws attention, and every indie publisher needs all the attention they can get) :-) Meanwhile, BK Adams has been making YouTube tutorials on some of the finer points of Mighty Protectors . I think this is kind of cool in general, and I like his style.  At first I thought "Why are you reading it to me, when I can read it myself?"  But, you know, his style makes sense, and he brings a bunch of fiddly bits together, so the game makes more sense, and character creation - and resulting play - is more fun. So, there you go.  Buy the game , watch the vids , have fun saving the worl...

Superheros on Live Stage - Soon I Will Be Invincible

"Soon I Will Be Invincible" - hadn't heard of it until Heinz Kreienbaum   mentioned it one day .  Apparently, it started life as a novel .  I so need to get a copy and read it. Christina Hall as Fatale And then someone did a live stage production of it .  That's pretty cool. I hope it smashed box office records, and all that.

Metals you've never heard of

Reality is stranger than fiction. I was writing some short fiction and needed to know the relative melting points of metals . Ever heard of " incoloy " or " hastelloy "?  Yeah, me neither. I swear those names were made up by Asimov  or Tolkien , right? Nope. Turns out those particular metals came out of a lab, and have industrial uses . Although, I'm undecided if " Special Metals Corporation " was named by a very unimaginative paper pusher, or some genius with the same sense of ironic humor that came up with" Umbrella Corporation ." WingMam - a funny dating blog

Anna J. is a stitch. She has a great sense of humor, and here ideas are actually useful.  She runs a couple of sites, but I think the general idea is dating.  You know, she's a certain age, had a really successful career, got burned out, decided she liked writing, and launched a couple of blogs. Ahem. Anyway. - WingMam ( Blog , Facebook ) (The Facebook link is even funnier when you read the actual URL.)

Give your character a backstory the easy way

I've mentioned before that I'm a gamer girl. I'm also a writer-type person.  That means I create a lot of characters, just for the fun of doing it, to see where different ideas and models might lead. Here are three sites that my gamer and writer friends like to use, as seeds for character background and character name.  Let's face it, coming up with cool names is a bitch, and coming up with interesting backstory is even worse. Icarus Anne Riley - Four Blogs To Say It All

I have four (4) blogs. Icarus Rants The root of all expression. I have a lot of passion. Mostly, I'm passionate about trying to get people to use their damn brains. I cover anything and everything, and there are even some just plain fun things like Musical Monday and Fictional Friday.  Theological Thursday got it's own blog - (hint: see next item) Church of the Ignorant Fool I rant about human stupidity and how it blurs together with religion. I grew up Christian, and never really stopped being Christian, although I don't practice any of the dogma or rituals of the established branches. I also rant about other religions. Sometimes I also sneak in a bit of philosophy and my Bigger Picture Than You Can Imagine view of things. I Tell You - You Decide If You Care That's the one you are reading now. I need to clean it up a bit. It's supposed to be light-hearted, but a few rants slipped in when I was more angry that attentive. Eating Your Brain...

Summon Monster [not] in 5e

I am unashamed to say that I liked playing summoner-types in 3.x, especially with some of the relaly abusive combinations possible with 3rd-party materials. In my defense, I always brought my monster cards, and own minis, so I was prepared. I always prepared my action list in advance, and was usually one of the fastest turns at the table, depsite sometimes having as many as eight critters and 16 attacks. Heh. Yeah, I love me them minions. Which is probably why Summon Monster has disappeared from the 5e PHB. After all, 5e is intended to streamline play, and be a less-complicated experience. But, whatever. I'm not alone in feeling the gap, and this looks like a pretty fun and creative way to fill the void. http://www.enworld.org/forum/showthread.php?358469-Summon-Monster-for-5E

A bunch of crowdfunding projects all in one place

Mark Craddock runs a comic shop. He also does a cool blog, with lots of gamer goodness. While I would love to put together one huge page of crowdfunding stuff, this ain't it. Maybe someday I will. That would be cool. Meanwhile, Mark has a "crowdfunding" label on his blog , and this means you can see a ton of cool gamer projects that have been done, and maybe see where they are today.
As the awesome Lex Larson put it: As the man says, if your organization needs an intersectionality-personified blackety black blackness speaker, facilitator and writer, hit the guy up. Or, just get a "Be Less Terrible" t-shirt or mug.

Krendel RPG - build your own anything

Krendel is one of those games like GURPS or Hero System - or a dozen others - one of those "generic toolkit" kind of game systems, where you can build anything, in any system, and so end up with whatever you want. I got the Krendal Core and Krendal Powers books.  I really like the layout, and presentation.  I've only played a bit with the rules, but it's pretty quick and easy. And hey - if you're a member of the Peace Corps, they'll give you a free copy! William Altman (the author) has a blog for the game .  And he's got an "open game" license , so you can create your own derivative works using the Krendel system.  I'm a huge fan of such licenses, because it's a great way for fans to expand the universe and increase the popularity (and utility) of the system without getting into trouble (and possibly make a few bucks to cover their time)  ;-)
