Nerdforge - uber nerd girl shows how to make awesome stuff

So, this is sort of a follow-up to my earlier post on Fantasy RPG Armor for women . This is about Martina at  Nerdforge , and all the awesome shit she makes. Specifically, here are her videos where she makes her own armor and then she makes a shield. She also has videos where she makes tomes, wizard staffs, and all kinds of awesome shit. Frankly, I get a kick out of trying to picture her workshop. She's got some serious and expensive power tools :-) Here are more links about them We're the Nerdforge couple Martina & Hansi! instagram & twitter: @thenerdforge discord: discord.io/nerdforge https://www.patreon.com/nerdforge

RocketBook - Handwriting to scan plus OCR made easy

I've got two diff RocketBooks , one is paper (the "microwave to erase") and the other is the Matrix ("wipe with moist cloth"). I love both of them. They make writing, capturing, and erasing super easy. The "Wave" is a paper notebook, and is less likely to smudge, works really well with color ink, and has a nice feel. It has durability problems, though, and the front and back covers are both tearing off. I actually glued them to the first and last writing pages to reinforce the binding, and that's working fine. The ink "shadow" tends to build up over time, and not fully erase, even with vigorous rubbing with the pen eraser or excessive microwaving. Also, it's paper - pressure lines accrue over time, also. Still, it's an awesome book. The "Matrix" is a lot more durable, since it's basically plastic. One weird thing I've noticed is that rubbing it with an eraser seems to damage the surface, and it's building up

Technical Manuals for All Things Space

Oh, I had such a hard time picking which sample images from Haynes to showcase the "Are you serious?!" collection of space  books they put together . These are hardcover books.  They have some real world ones, like a lot of the NASA space program craft, but as you can see, they also turned their engineers and writers loose on fictional space craft - like the frickin' Death Star! ( source ) I am so putting all of these on my Christmas wishlist, and going to carve out some space on my bookcase for them. ( source ) ( source ) "That's no moon. It's a space station." Dungeon Cultist Coffee Mug

Dungeon Cultist Mug by Nate McD  (Zazzle) or Nate McD (G+) Because, you know, we make a fuss about advertising our lives on our coffee mugs - let's advertise we love dungeon crawling on the weekends, with friends.  I so need at least one of these in my house. It would  make a good birthday gift for your gamer, too.  Or a Christmas party "white elephant" gift.  Hell, I just think it's adorable :-) "Dungeon Cultist" - it could be like the "secret dress-up" used to identify your fellow cultists.  Only those "in the know," understand the meaning, and it's an advert to others of the club that you're a gamer, and ready to roll :-)

My favorite pancakes

Dice up honeycrisp apples to really small chunks. Get pancake mix, put in 1/4 TSP sugar, 1/4 TSP ground cinnamon, a pinch of nutmeg, and a splash of vanilla extract. Use coconut oil cooking spray on the pan. Pour 1/4 cup batter into the pan (medium-low heat) and sprinkle six to eight pieces of diced apple into it. Use a knife to push the apple under the surface. Wait until the bubbles stop popping and flip it. Cook only one at a time, so it has the pan to itself and your full attention. Drizel with maple syrup and no-sugar-added applesauce (homemade lumpy with skins is best). ( source ) It helps of you have a sweet tooth, since Apple's and maple syrup are both loaded with sugar. If I'm hungry and think I want to hear more than two, I don't add the sugar to the mix, and I use even less maple syrup. You have to play with the apple chunk size, too. I dice the pieces to less than 1/4", and it's a balancing act what kind of texture and how much apple flavor

A barge named Fight Fanconi Anemia

Fanconi Anemia is a rare genetic disease that causes bone marrow failure and affects the development of healthy blood cells. Harley Marine sought to bring awareness to this rare genetic disorder and to honor those who have fought or are still fighting the disease, by naming the barge Fight Fanconi Anemia . Because, you know, Champer Shipping of Britich Columbia lists an Oil Spill Response page, and people  give their boats all kinds of crazy names, like  Fight Fanconi Anemia. So, there you have it, people at Harley Marine . You have succeeded in raising awareness that this disease exists.  May there some day be a cure for it! Yeah, I totally don't even remember what I was looking for when I found myself on that OSR page, just enjoying seeing what people name their vessels. I mean, there's Fuji Galaxy, Katagalan Wisdom III, Red Cosmos, and World Harmony  among others.  (It begs the question what happened to Katagalan Wisdom I  and II ?) As best I can sort out, Fig

Friendly WiFi -

"More and more businesses are offering Wi-Fi as a service to customers. Whether it is at a restaurant, shop, or a favorite hangout, free access to Wi-Fi has become an expectation " Duh. "Friendly WiFi – an Initiative introduced by government agencies and managed by the RDI Trade Organization – recognizes public places that offer secure and filtered Wi-Fi with the goal of making public Internet safe for young people around the world." "The Friendly WiFi symbol is available to any venues providing public WiFi, who are committed to supporting the need for safeguarding online content . The Friendly WiFi symbol is displayed by each venue signed up to the Friendly WiFi accreditation and appears either on their landing page as you sign into their public WiFi, or is visible on signage within the venue.  "Wherever this symbol is displayed on site or online, parents and young people can be assured that the venues displaying the symbol have the

Radiant Tank Top Heaters

I had a Mozart "for concentration and study" vid running in the background on YouTube, when an advert for Radiant Tank Top Heaters by Global Industrial came on. Definitely not the kind of thing I normally expect, but I got curious, and once I saw the images of "propane tanks with laser dishes" my mind went running all over the place.  These things seem really dangerous, but also very practical.  I can see every dude-bro's garage workshop with at least one of these, and if I was out in that shop on a freezing-ass cold  day, I'd be parked next to this thing, because I'm tough, but still smart enough to stay warm. My first random thought was the Star Wars laser dish cannons .  I loved Empire Strikes Back , and always thought these things were cool in a totally impractical kind of way. I love that Lucas and his people always seemed to let their imaginations run wild. I mean, just because WE think it might be impractical doesn't mean some ot
